Sonika Pradhan, the founder of Hathkatha, a brand deeply rooted in the heartland of Odisha, specifically in the vibrant city of Bhubaneswar. Her journey into the world of entrepreneurship and handloom and handicrafts began in 2020, with the inception of Hathkatha, formerly known as "The Hanger." Before venturing into the world of full time business, She pursued an MBA and gained valuable experience working at Pantaloons, part of the Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL). It was during her time there that she developed a keen interest in the world of fashion and textiles. However, her entrepreneurial spirit and her desire to explore new horizons eventually led her to chart a different course. The year 2020 presented unprecedented challenges with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many would have hesitated to embark on a new business venture during such uncertain times, but her determination and passion for handloom and handicrafts kept her going. She saw an opportunity to not only create something beautiful but also to support local artisans and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Odisha. Beyond her business pursuits, She is also an artist at heart. She has a deep love for painting, dancing and it's a passion she has nurtured alongside her various business endeavours. This artistic side of her is reflected in Hathkatha's products, where she strive to blend artistry with tradition, creating unique and visually appealing handcrafted items. From a young age, She has been involved in different business ventures, starting her entrepreneurial journey at the age of 18. This early exposure to entrepreneurship instilled in her a sense of independence and a drive to continuously explore new opportunities. She considers herself a free spirit, unafraid to take unconventional paths in pursuit of her dreams. She is a smart worker who values the importance of learning and adapting. Every experience, whether in the corporate world or as an entrepreneur, has been a valuable lesson, shaping her journey and approach to business. Her Mother, Dezy Pradhan also a Director has been a tremendous source of inspiration throughout her life. She continues to work on different projects, showcasing resilience and a tireless work ethic. Her mother's dedication has instilled in her the belief that hard work, determination, and a passion for what you do are keys to success. As the founder of Hathkatha, She is committed to weaving together the stories and traditions of Odisha into each handcrafted creation.
